Der Blue-Mountains-Nationalpark liegt auf einer von Flüssen durchzogenen Hochebene der Great Dividing Range ca. 80 km westlich von Sydney entfernt.
Eucalyptus Bäume, die ätherische Öle produzieren, verursachen eine bläuliche Lufttrübung - daher hat der Park seinen Namen.
